# Daily transaction reports

> Get a daily CSV of your business transactions delivered over SFTP.

Afriex can deliver a report of your transactions every day over SFTP. Use it to reconcile in a spreadsheet, or to load your transactions into your own systems without paging through [List transactions](https://docs.afriex.com/api-reference/endpoint/transactions/list.md).

> [!NOTE]
>
> Daily transaction reports are available in production only, and only when you ask for them.

## What you get

* One CSV file for each day your business had transactions. A day with no transactions has no file.
* Your own transactions only.
* Each transaction on the day it was created, with its latest status when the file is generated.

## When it arrives

Each day's file arrives at about 05:00 UTC on the following day. For example, the report for 3 September arrives at about 05:00 UTC on 4 September.

A report covers a UTC calendar day, from 00:00 UTC up to but not including 00:00 UTC the next day. If you are in another time zone, reconcile on UTC dates, not on your own midnight.

If Afriex corrects a day's report, the corrected file replaces the earlier one. Fetch that day again to get it.

## Get access

1. Contact [support@afriex.com](mailto:support@afriex.com) and ask for daily transaction reports.

2. Create an SSH key pair on the machine that will fetch the reports:

   ```bash theme={null}
   ssh-keygen -t ed25519 -C "afriex-sftp" -f ~/.ssh/afriex_sftp
   ```

   This writes two files. `~/.ssh/afriex_sftp.pub` is your public key, and it is the only file you send us. `~/.ssh/afriex_sftp` is your private key. It never leaves your machine.

   If your SFTP client can't use Ed25519, as with some older Java and Windows clients, use RSA with 4096 bits. Don't use a smaller key.

   ```bash theme={null}
   ssh-keygen -t rsa -b 4096 -C "afriex-sftp" -f ~/.ssh/afriex_sftp
   ```

3. Check that the file you are about to send is the public key. Its first line starts with `ssh-ed25519` or `ssh-rsa`.

   ```bash theme={null}
   head -n1 ~/.ssh/afriex_sftp.pub
   ```

   > [!WARNING]
   >
   > If the first line says `-----BEGIN OPENSSH PRIVATE KEY-----`, don't send it. That is your private key. If you already sent a private key, tell us straight away and create a new pair.

4. Send us the public key. We may ask you to confirm its fingerprint through a different channel from the one you sent the key on. To read the fingerprint:

   ```bash theme={null}
   ssh-keygen -l -f ~/.ssh/afriex_sftp.pub
   ```

5. The Afriex data team sends you the host and your username when your access is ready.

> [!TIP]
>
> Protect the private key. If a person connects by hand, set a passphrase when `ssh-keygen` asks. An unattended job usually can't use a passphrase, so restrict the key file to its owner instead, for example with `chmod 600 ~/.ssh/afriex_sftp`.

## Connect and download

Connect on port 22 with your private key. Replace `<username>` and `<host>` with the values the data team sent you:

```bash theme={null}
sftp -i ~/.ssh/afriex_sftp <username>@<host>
```

Your reports are in the `outbound` folder, in a folder for each date. You can download them, but not change or delete them.

```text theme={null}
sftp> ls /outbound/transactions
sftp> get /outbound/transactions/2026-09-03/business_transactions_2026-09-03.csv
```

For a job that runs every day, fetch the previous UTC date once the report has arrived.
